final double page spread

This is what my final double page spread looks like.

double page spread plan

I have created a plan for my double page spread so that when it comes to making it, I know exactly what I have to do. This plan includes things like the layout, what the font style will be like, what the photos will be of and where they are positioned.

NME Magazine Double Page Spread
The first thing that can be seen on this double page spread is the headlinne which is a quote from the magazine. The headline reads 'People think I'm an attention seeker, but I'm just honest', this shows that she doesn't really care what other people think of her and it suggests that she is an outgoing and loud person who enjoys being in the spotlight. This appeals to the target audience for this magazine as many teenagers are also very outgoing and fun, also the artist featured on the cover is around the same age as the target audience.
The next thing that the reader will see is the picture on the right side of the page, this takes up a whole page in this double page spread as it is an image of the artist herself and so it gives the reader an idea of what the interviewee looks like. The clothes she is wearing are very casual which also links to the idea that she doesn't really care what people think. She is wearing quite heavy black eye-liner to show that she can have a dark side.

contents page plan

I have created a plan for my contents page so that when it comes to making it, I know exactly what I have to do. This plan includes things like the layout, what the font style will be like, what the photos will be of and where they are positioned.

contents page generic conventions

MOJO contents page

This first magazine contents page does not use the title of 'Contents', instead they have used the magazines name, 'Mojo.' This suggests that the magazine name is the most important part of the page, it also shows that this page is obviously the contents page as it doesn't need a title.

The pictures are on the left hand side of the page, this suggests that they are the most important part and that this is where most of the reader's attention should be, this is because the first thing the readers will see will be on the left side of the page at the top. There is a variety of different artists on this page from different genres which shows that there is a mixture of different genres featured in the magazine.

The font used for the sub titles and for the first few words of the description of each page is the same as the mast head of the magazine, this is so that it links back to the magazine. Also this font is a lot bigger and bolder then the rest of the text as it is more important. The subheadings are written in red so that it stands out against the rest of the black text.

VIBE contents page

Similar to the first magazine, this one also doesn't have the traditional title of 'contents' this one has the 'V' for VIBE which is the logo for this magazine and then a barcode. Also it has a heading of 'Departments' and then under that is different subheadings including the different types of features, there are also different coloured pictures associated with each section of the contents page.

Unlike the other contents page this one only has one picture which takes up most of the page, this is because it is the main feature and the most important part of the magazine.

All of the font on this page is the same colour, black, apart from the colour of the page numbers which are the same colour as the pictures above each subheading. This is so that all of the contents page links together. The subheadings are in big, bold text so that it stands out against the rest of the text.
